Renault Megane E-Tech, Fiat 500 electric, and Kia e-Niro: 3 good electric cars to get out of the Tesla Model 3 and Renault Zoe

    Jun 06,2022 | Chloe Lacour

Choosing an electric car does not necessarily mean driving a Renault Zoe, Dacia Spring, or Tesla Model 3. Now that the market is growing, you have many other choices, including the three that L'Automobile Magazine is shining the spotlight on this spring 2022.

Since the birth of the electric car on a large scale in the early 2010s, the names have often remained the same, between the Nissan Leaf - confidential in sales but among the oldest - Renault Zoé and, more recently, the Tesla Model 3 whose career took off abruptly in 2021. But the months pass and the “zero-emission” novelties are more and more numerous, challenging the established order. In the light of this summer of 2022, AM is shining the spotlight on three relevant electrics.

    1. The Renault Mégane E-Tech, from €37,200

The Renault Mégane E-Tech sounds the charge of the 2nd generation of electric vehicles at Renault, after the Zoe and Twingo. Fun to drive, dynamic, and rather comfortable despite its 20-inch wheels, the Losange sedan convinces with its driving position and onboard electronics. On the other hand, it is not the queen of reception in the rear seats and we expected even better from its autonomy, especially in its version with a 60 kWh battery (from €40,200). Basically, the Mégane is satisfied with a 40 kWh accumulator.

The feeling of confinement in the back
    Poor AR visibility
    Trunk threshold

    2. The Kia e-Niro, from €39,690

If the new Kia Niro arrives soon in hybrid and rechargeable hybrid, on the other hand, the new e-Niro, 100% electric, will not be announced before September. In the meantime, the current generation remains a good choice. The 64 kWh version (from €43,690) offers good autonomy in town (448 km) and on the road (359 km). Welcoming, spacious and comfortable, the Korean compact SUV (4.38 m) is a good travel companion, guaranteed for 7 years which is more, which does not spoil anything.
