The Bmw I4 Soon Be More Accessible To Counter The Tesla Model 3

BMW has announced the arrival of a less powerful version, the i4 eDrive35… still with 285 hp. But the autonomy will also decrease.
In Canada, BMW has just opened orders for a new version of the i4, the electric counterpart of the 4 Series Gran Coupé: the eDrive35, which is therefore placed below the eDrive40. And the brand says that this less powerful version will arrive soon, by early 2023.
The eDrive35 receives a 210 kW motor, or 285 hp. With the 40, it's 250 kW or 340 hp. The maximum torque peaks at 400 Nm. This variant retains good performance since the 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 6.0 seconds.
More importantly, the battery is smaller. While the 40 has a battery with a net capacity of 80.7 kWh, the 35 is advertised with a 66.0 kWh battery. Inevitably, autonomy will take a hit. While it is 590 km with the 40, on the 35 BMW announces 490 km (WLTP cycle). Which is still good value. Above all, it is data close to that of the basic Tesla Model 3.
With this i4 with its deflated technical sheet, BMW certainly wants to tackle this Model 3 for access, whose base price has risen this year to €53,490. A price on which the German manufacturer should align, while the 40 starts at 59,950 €.
Note that on the charging side, the maximum direct current charging power decreases a little, from 205 to 180 kW. BMW promises a 10 to 80% recharge in 32 minutes.
