Auto-Dimming: What It Does & How to Check
What is auto-dimming?
Auto-dimming automatically darkens the mirror glass to reduce glare from headlights behind you during nighttime driving. It is separate from mirror heating, power folding and the downward tilt used when reversing.
How do I check my original mirrors?
Start with the touchscreen. Look under Controls > Mirrors for Mirror Auto Dim, where available. This is a useful starting point, but it does not identify the exact replacement assembly.
Check the exterior mirrors themselves. Do not rely on the interior rearview mirror, glass tint or heating symbol alone. These do not establish the specification of the exterior mirror you are replacing.
Check the full mirror label. Use the complete original part number, including its suffix, to confirm the configuration—particularly if the mirror has been replaced before.
Check the connected pins, not just the holes. A connector may have 13 holes but only 11 wired metal terminals, with two holes left empty. Ask your installer to check which holes contain metal terminals connected to wires, along with the connector’s locating tabs and slots (plug keying) and your original mirror’s auto-dimming function. Use all three checks together; the number of holes alone cannot confirm compatibility.
If the touchscreen setting is missing or you are unsure, send us the mirror label and connector photos before selecting an option.
Choose With Auto-Dimming for an original exterior mirror equipped with this function, or Without Auto-Dimming for one without it. Selecting the auto-dimming option does not by itself add the function to a vehicle that lacks the required wiring and controls.
Left / Right Selection
Every listed model, year and functional configuration is available in left or right versions. Each side is sold individually.
Determine the side while seated inside the vehicle and facing forward:
Left (LH): The vehicle’s left side.
Right (RH): The vehicle’s right side.
“Driver side” and “passenger side” refer to different sides in different markets because the steering-wheel position varies. Use the vehicle’s left or right side when ordering.

This is a brand-new aftermarket replacement, not a genuine Tesla part. Vehicle names and OE references are used for application identification only.
Installation Overview
Professional installation is recommended. Compare the replacement with the original before fitting or modifying it.
Model Y 2020–2024 — Left-Side Procedure Reference
Check compatibility and software. Confirm the replacement specification and applicable firmware requirements.
Access the assembly. Remove the mirror cap and front door trim, disconnect the mirror wiring, and release the relevant harness and glass-run seal clips.
Remove the mirror. Support the assembly, remove its three mounting bolts using hand tools, and guide the wiring and grommet out through the door.
Fit the replacement. Route the wiring, seat the grommet and secure the assembly. Tesla specifies 15 Nm for the mounting bolts in this procedure; the installer should confirm the requirements for the supplied replacement.
Reassemble and check operation. Reconnect the wiring, refit the clips, seals, trim and cap, then complete the prescribed calibration and function checks.

Q: Is the price for one mirror or a pair?
One assembled mirror unit for the selected side. Order left and right separately if both need replacing.
Q: Do all versions include heating, power adjustment, power folding and position memory?
Yes. All versions include these four functions. The functional difference between the two configurations is whether auto-dimming is included.
Q: Can I choose the auto-dimming option using only the model year?
No. Check your original exterior mirror’s configuration, complete part label and connector details. Model year alone is not enough.
Q: Can I use a different Model 3 year option if the mirror looks similar?
No. Select the exact listed vehicle and year option. Earlier Model 3 and Highland assemblies are different, and the Highland 2024, 2025 and 2026 options are selected separately.
Q: Is the outer mirror cap included?
Yes. It is supplied as part of the assembled unit. Please read the color information under “Each order includes” before ordering.
Q: Do I need the complete assembly if only the glass is damaged?
Not necessarily. If the remaining mirror components are serviceable, a glass-only replacement may be sufficient. Have the damage assessed before choosing the repair.
Q: Is this a genuine Tesla part?
No. This is a brand-new aftermarket replacement part, not a genuine Tesla part.

We will review it in 1 business day and upon approval, we will dispatch a brand new replacement. Your 100% satisfaction is important to us.
Return Qualification Requirements:
1). Orders exceeding 1 month do not accept return or exchange of goods.
2). Orders only accept return or exchange of goods within 30 days.
3). No return or exchange on customized products(eg., Yoke Steering Wheel)
Refund instructions:
You will be responsible for paying the freight of the returned goods, as well as the possible customs duties and other expenses. Freight is nonrefundable. If you receive a refund, the return freight will be deducted from your refund.
For an item to be eligible for a return, it must remain in the condition it was received: unused, unworn, tagged, and in its original packaging.
Prior to initiating a return, please reach out to us at contact@teslaacessories.com. You can expect a response from us within 1 business day. Once your return is accepted, we will share detailed instructions for your return process. Please provide us with the tracking number and your order number once the return shipment has been arranged.
Upon receiving and verifying that the returned product adheres to our return conditions, we will commence your refund process within 1 business day using your original payment method. Be advised that all refunds may take up to 2 business days to process once we receive the returned item.Returns sent without prior approval will not be accepted.
Refunds & Order Cancellation
Please note that if you request a refund due to personal reasons after placing an order, a 5% transaction fee will be deducted from the refund amount. This fee is charged by the payment processor, not TESMAG. Therefore, the actual refund received will be less than the original payment amount.
To avoid any inconvenience or loss, we kindly ask you to double-check your order before completing the purchase. Mistakenly placed orders may incur this additional fee, so we encourage careful attention during checkout.
Return Fee
If a return is due to a product being “damaged or shipped incorrectly,” the customer does not need to pay the return shipping fee. If a return is due to “purchasing the wrong item or no longer needing it,” the customer is responsible for the return shipping fee, and the actual shipping cost will be deducted from the refund. In either case, no restocking fee will be charged for the return.
If a package is missing parts or has incomplete contents, the seller will reship the missing items based on the actual situation. If the buyer does not agree to a reshipment and chooses to return the item, the buyer is responsible for the return shipping costs.
Non-Returnable Items:
Steering wheels, seat covers, and gift cards are custom-made and special-order items; returns are not accepted. If you have any questions about specific products, please contact us.

If due to our reasons, the goods received are damaged or not correct, the consumer is not required to bear the shipping fee for this reason.
