If You Switch From Toyota Camry To Tesla Model 3, The Tip For One Month Will More Than Double! Uber Driver Reveals

    Jul 05,2022 | Chloe Lacour

In the United States, when a Uber driver switched from the Toyota Camry to the Tesla Model 3, the number of chips doubled.

The driver told Bloomberg that he was "extremely generous" when he was riding the Model 3.

"In the past, it would have been nice to get a tip of $ 1 to $ 3, but now we sometimes get a tip of $ 10 or $ 15," the driver said.

In the United States, when a Uber driver switched from a Toyota Camry to a Tesla Model 3, he said he more than doubled the number of chips he received in a month.

"In the past, it would have been nice to get a tip of $ 1 to $ 3, but now we sometimes get a tip of $ 10 or $ 15," driver Haydy Burns told Bloomberg.

Burns said he received $ 2,600 as a tip 25 days after he started riding Tesla. When he was on the Camry, he was about $ 800- $ 1000 in 25 days.

"(Customers) have become extremely generous," said Burns.

Burns, who runs primarily around Los Angeles, is about 15,000 Uber drivers renting Tesla cars through Uber's October 2021 car rental company Hearts. Is one of them. Uber also provides drivers who choose electric vehicles with a $ 1 "zero-emission incentive" per ride.

These efforts coincide with the time when gasoline prices reached record levels due to the war in Ukraine, the decline in crude oil production in the United States, and supply chain problems.

In the United States, gasoline prices per gallon averaged over $ 5 in June. It has since fallen to around $ 4.8, but is well above the average price of $ 3.1 for the same period last year, according to the AAA. Gasoline prices in California have risen sharply, with some gas stations offering $ 6.2 per gallon in some locations.

Burns told Bloomberg that the cost of filling the Camry jumped from $ 60 to $ 100 as to why he switched from Toyota to Tesla.

According to Burns, it costs about $ 450 a week to run the Tesla Model 3, including leasing and charging, and the Toyota Camry costs about $ 600 a week.
